Tungsten Wire Type 1A (As drawn) Commercially Pure Min. 99.95 percent non-sag and cut (ASTM F288 Type 1A) has excellent strength at high temperature and exceptional resistance to corrosion with good electrical and heat conducting properties. Its melting point is 6150 F (3400 C), the highest of any metal. Tungsten also has the highest modulus of elasticity of all metals. Tungsten Wire is straight, 30 or 60 inches long. Our 17-7 PH precipitation-hardened Spring Temper Wire (ASTM 313 Chemistry Only) is furnished cold drawn in Condition C (AMS 5678), cleaned and straightened. Its elastic properties permit reforming into a specific shape and it can be formed into springs or into required patterns as in the case of diagnostic catheters. This is accomplished by taking the formed cold drawn wire (Condition C) and aging it at 900F (482C) for one hour (to Condition CH900). 17-7 Spring Wire provides good corrosion resistance, excellent fatigue properties and minimum distortion during heat treatment. In addition, the material retains its load bearing properties with little or no relaxation up to 850 degrees F. Furnished in "gun barrel straight lengths. Compatible with tube gauges 25-26.

All right... if you have a berserk taste for the Tiny Life, you need to get to know Small Parts, Inc. For reasons best left unexplained, I developed a fetish for building 1/700 Napoleonic ships-- and a need for the smallest wire,cable, and tool sizes I could find...AND... hello SPI. If it's obscenely small, they have it. I know that technoheads and lab rats use this stuff all the time, but us right-side brain types are astonished by what's going on in this micro world. This stiff wire, and other sizes down to .001, have only the disadvantage that I can't freaking SEE it. They mail this straightened wire in long tubes, and for awhile, I was really P.O.'d that the tubes were empty-- until I broke out the Optivisor.....
Great stuff, great service. The online catalog is hard to negotiate for us dimwits because of its size and complexity, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly.
